Process

From heritage survey data to reliable HBIM delivery.

The workflow is designed to make scope, assumptions, quality expectations, and outputs clear before detailed modelling begins.

Step 01

Project brief

The client describes the building, heritage context, intended use, available data, required formats, and programme.

Useful information includes approximate area, project location, required views or sheets, preferred Revit version, IFC needs, and any client BIM standard.

Step 02

Source-data review

A representative sample is reviewed for coverage, point density, registration, coordinate systems, occlusions, and visibility of required elements.

Archival drawings and reports are checked for relevance and potential conflict with measured conditions.

Step 03

Scope definition

The modelling scope specifies included elements, exclusions, required geometric detail, information fields, tolerances, formats, drawings, and milestones.

Unclear areas and assumptions are identified before production rather than hidden inside the model.

Step 04

HBIM production

Building elements are modelled from the point cloud and supporting evidence according to the agreed strategy.

Historic irregularities are represented where they materially affect the intended model use.

Step 05

Quality review

The model is checked for alignment, organisation, completeness, performance, and consistency with the source data.

Review views, sections, issue notes, or selected deviation checks may be used depending on scope.

Step 06

Delivery & comments

Agreed Revit, IFC, DWG, PDF, and supporting documentation are delivered for client review.

Comments are addressed according to the agreed review process and revision allowance.
